intime earphones review by sound engineer

Yoshiyuki Watanabe, President of intime meets Masaaki Enatsu, President of Marimo Records ‘

speak about intime earphones and sound engineering.

Ultrasonic sound + 40KHz sound using PIEZO CERAMIC

intime® earphones use high-frequency sound (twice that of conventional earphones) of 40kHz or higher. They achieve beautiful high-resolution sound at a price of around 40USD.

The company is located in Takasaki City, 100km north of Tokyo. We started our business in 2016. We have 5 employees.

Most of our products are manufactured in Japan. But, the SORA LIGHT is made in China. Quality checks are carried out in Japan. Products imported from China are unpacked in Japan. QC checks them. intime engineers then repack them before they are shipped around the world.。

The intime uses a 2-way core driver unit to deliver sound to the earphones. The use of piezoelectric ceramic as the material for the tweeter is an innovative experiment by the company.
Piezoelectric materials are used in fish finders on fishing boats, and they are applied to very high frequencies. They are used to efficiently apply very high frequency sounds. Piezoelectric ceramics were also used in the speakers of mobile phones before smartphones were launched.
One of its major weaknesses is the lack of output in the low-frequency range. Hence, intime has adopted a 2-way system for its earphones. This system includes a dynamic woofer driver for the low-frequency range. It also features a piezoelectric ceramic tweeter for the mid- to high-frequency range. intime’s earphones deliver sound straight to the ear using a sound wave reflection shield. This shield prevents sound waves from diffusing. As a result, they achieve a very well-balanced frequency range.

Yoshiyuki Watanabe is the inventor of the intime earphone and the president of o2aid. He is a leading expert in Japanese ceramic technology.

intime always values the preferences of its customers. As part of this, we often hold Assy Meetings (DIY events). These meetings are for end users to make customized earphones under the guidance of intime staff.
Participants can make earphones in various designs, like Halloween, Christmas, two-tone, and cabinet. intime staff will give lectures on how to solder and glue the casing. Participants in this event will be charged an event participation fee. They will be allowed to take home the earphones they have customized. intime uses these meetings as an opportunity to directly hear the opinions of customers.
